Turning Exercise: The Chop

The Chop is another technique player use to quickly change directions and maintain control of the ball while also creating space from a defender. In this video Bobby Burling demonstrates this technique and explains in detail how to do it the right way.

Coaching Points

  • Chop the ball with the outside of the foot.
  • After the chop push the ball with the outside of the foot to create seperation from the defender.
  • Always use a low center of gravity.
