Set Up:
Three players are set up inside of the small grid. As Player 1 dribbles, Players 2 and 3 check away from him, staying out wide. When Players 1 and 2 make eye contact, Player 2 checks back to the ball to receive a pass from Player 1. Player 2 then dribbles, looking Player 3. Player 3 makes his checking run and receives the pass from Player 2. After receiving, Player 3 then begins the same pattern of play in the opposite direction, looking for Player 1.
Coaching Points:
1. Make runs away from the ball in order to create space for you to work back into.
2. Communicate by making eye contact, but don’t telegraph the play.
3. Get wide and out of the defender’s field of vision before checking back to the ball.
Progressions:
1. Add two more groups to the field.
