Set Up:
-
The teams play 5 v 5 on a field split into two 18 yard boxes.
-
Each team has three players in the defending half, and two in the attacking half.
-
Players must stay in their own half, but they can score from either half.
Coaching Points:
-
Encourage players to look to shoot first. If they can’t, can they play a ball to someone who can?
-
Speed of play must be high.
-
Movement off the ball is important. Find space with your movements, and unbalance the defenders.
-
Placement vs power when shooting.
Progressions:
- Players are allowed to dribble or pass into attacking half. If the ball is passed into attacking half, they can follow the pass, creating a 3 v 3 in attacking half.
-
When a player passes the ball in, his two teammates can move into the attacking half, creating a 4 v 3.
